Burnt Out? Try This Biblical Secret!

Finding Rest in a Restless World

Do you sometimes feel totally exhausted, no matter how much you sleep? Does it feel like your "to-do" list is growing faster than your energy? Are you longing for even a bit of true rest that doesn't involve just crashing on the couch?

👽 Ever feel like an alien in your own life because you're just THAT tired? You aren't alone. Whether it’s 3 AM insomnia or general life burnout, true rest is closer than you think. 🕊️

If you feel this way, you are certainly not alone. Recent 2025 data from the Robert Half Canada survey shows that nearly half of Canadian professionals (47%) report feeling burned out. Furthermore, reports indicate that approximately 48% of Canadian adults struggle with sleep, making unrefreshing sleep a widespread issue. Whether it is from heavy workloads, financial pressure, or the mental fatigue of modern life, the need for a real break is a universal struggle.

The good news is that you have been brought to the right place; it truly is possible to get that much-needed rest, and we can find the blueprint for it in the scriptures.

The Secret to True Rest: Lessons from 2 Chronicles 15:15

The Bible offers a version of peace that the world cannot provide: rest on every side. In 2 Chronicles 15:15, we see that Judah found this rest because they chose to seek God wholeheartedly. As the Messiah taught in Matthew 6:33, we are called to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,” with the promise that everything else—including your strength and peace—will be added to you.

1. Wholehearted Commitment

The scripture notes that Judah rejoiced because they had sworn their oath wholeheartedly. Rest begins when we stop being "double-minded." There is an exhausting tension in trying to live with one foot in faith and one foot in the world. When we commit fully, the internal conflict ends.

2. Eager Seeking

They didn't just "look" for God; they sought Him eagerly. This is what it means to put the Kingdom first. It’s the difference between checking a box and chasing a person. The promise is absolute: when He is sought, He is found.

3. Divine Rest

The result was that "the Lord gave them rest on every side." This is a holistic peace—emotional, spiritual, and even circumstantial. When our vertical relationship is aligned, our horizontal life begins to settle.

Practical Steps to Seek Him Eagerly

  • The "First Five" Rule: Before checking your phone, give the first five minutes of your day to God.
  • Audit Your "Oath": Reflect on where your heart is divided and commit that specific area to Him wholeheartedly.
  • Create a "Sabbath" Space: Find a consistent hour each week dedicated solely to worship or scripture.

A Prayer for Rest

Father,

We come before You with hearts full of gratitude and praise. You are the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, the source of all life, and the One who holds the stars in place. Your name is holy, and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. We thank You for Your goodness and for the gift of Your presence that sustains us.

In the name of Yeshua HaMashiach, we bring our petitions to You. We ask for that supernatural rest on every side that You promised to those who seek You. We thank You in advance for the peace that surpasses all understanding, for the strength that is being renewed in us right now, and for the clarity to seek Your Kingdom first. Thank You for the rest You are providing for our souls.

Amen.
