Chanuka 2019- Day 6 -Blessed Shabbat

Shabbat Shalom! December 26 2019!

I was very blessed to visit a Messianic Fellowship service. The message was an immense confirmation of what I have been thinking and saying about the personal meaning of 

Hanukkah for me this year.

Hanukah means dedication. In John 10:22, when Jesus was walking in the colonnades and the elders wanted to stone him for blaspheme, it was during the winter feast of dedication, or Chanukah.

The timing of Chanukah this year is amazing. Right before the time when everyone is making New Year's resolutions. What a wonderful time to rededicate our temples to the work of The One Who Created All.

Are you ready to rededicate your temple too?

Our Creator said in Isaiah 1:18:

"Come, let's chat about this,

Even though your sins are a red as scarlet,

I will make them white as snow."

in Psalm 145 :18-19 we find:

"The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them."

Jesus' disciples asked him how to pray, (Luke 11:1)

He replied not to just say a whole bunch of words over and over again, and he gave them a pattern of prayer, which you will find there.

It is not so much the words we say, but the intentions of our hearts when we cry out to Our Creator.

Every parent knows the difference between Sorry and sorry.

It is written in Psalm 51:17  and  many times through out the Bible that the gift that Our Creator wants is a contrite humble spirit and a truly repentant heart.

I am truly grateful for the many miracles Our Creator has done to keep me alive and in one piece. I would not have the uses of my hand to write this, my eye to see this, nor my leg. I would not even be alive, except for the providence of  Our Creator and His wonderful gift of salvation.

December 26 2019 Day 5 Rest

Scripture:Come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

December 26 2019 Today I was going to get my glasses - finally after 3 years of waiting! But no!

Ob my way out the door , my nose started running like a faucet, then a wave of nausea hit , and it was into the bathroom. Anaphylaxis strikes again!

Man was I sick!

Yes, it's beginning to smell a lot like Sickmas!

I spent the day in bed recovering, then received a wonderful blessing that evening ,by being able to talk to a fabulous blogger who writes about her beliefs and walk with Christ in Hebrew and English!

Wow!

In fact, some might say, generous to a fault - such as the times I've shared my resources with others anticipating funds or food that were due to arrive and then being without myself when the promised resources did not show up! December 23 2019 - Calgary 31st Annual Public Menorah Lighting 

Calgary Alberta does Hanukah really well! December 23rd 2019 was the 31st Annual Public Menorah Lighting in Calgary. For those of us who were not able to attend in person, the Menorah lighting was posted live on menorah.ca.courtesy Chabad.org

Hopefully they will post a video of here on Chabad.org on their multimedia page for others to view who missed the event on their multimedia page What the Mayor of Calgary shared around point 52:00 in the live broadcast was really shocking.

What opportunities did you receive today?

I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn more about Hanukkah today, both through online resources and sharing what was placed in my heart about Hanukkah being eight days to celebrate the restoration of my temple through the Grace of G-d.

I received some wonderful words of encouragement in scripture from a humble prophet who has been called into a five -fold ministry.

Amazingly, some of these scriptures are echoed in the traditional Hanukkah blessing that is said before lighting the first  chanukia wick.

So far, I have learned that while many chanukiah have candles, it is preferable to have one that burns olive oil and uses cotton wicks - in remembrance of the lamp that was lit in the temple after it was cleaned of desecration.
