Dede Robertson Gone Home!

Mother, Wife, Author, Friend Adelia Robertson 94 Passed Away April 19th, 2022

Scripture:
  • Matthew 25:23 "Well done good and faithful servant!"
A few minutes ago, I was led to scroll through the news feed from Microsoft - this is not something I do very often and I wondered why. After scrolling down several pages. I saw this article and thought "Oh, My!" I knew that Pat Robertson's wife was of advanced years, but never in a million years would I have ever guessed that she was 94. Adelia"Dede" Robertson has gone home to be with the LORD.

Who Was Adelia Robertson?

Adelia “Dede” Robertson, an influential leader with the Christian Broadcasting Network and wife of prominent televangelist M.G. "Pat" Robertson, passed from this life on April 19th  at her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the age of 94.
Dede, as she was best known, was born in Columbus, Ohio at the tail end of the roaring twenties to Ralph P. and Florence B. Elmer. After graduating from Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Social Administration, Dede worked as a fashion model and even won the title of Miss Ohio.

She continued her education at the prestigious Yale University of Nursing. It was here while pursuing her Master's Degree in Nursing that she met a young law student from Yale Law School - M.G. "Pat" Robertson. Knowing that neither of their families would approve of their marriage, they eloped to be married by a Justice of the Peace.
Shortly after their marriage in 1954. Pat shocked Dede by declaring he had found Jesus. He poured out all their alcohol, ripped a nude portrait off the wall, and declared that they were moving to a roach-infested commune in New York because God wanted him to serve the poor. Dede almost left Pat, but she stayed by his side.  It was shortly after this that Pat bought a tiny television station in Virginia that over the decades was to become the Christian Broadcasting Network.

Adelia Robertson-Tireless Worker for the LORD

Despite being a busy mother, Dede founded the boards at not only the Christian Broadcasting Network but also Regent University, and Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation.

Dede was extremely active in supporting women of all nations. In 1982, Dede was appointed to the Inter-American Commission of Women and was the representative of the United States until 1990. It was in this role that she played an important part in elevating the status of women in Latin America.

During this time, Dede also visited 52 states campaigning enthusiastically in support of her husband's bid for the presidential election as a Republican,

Her dedication to supporting her husband in the work of the LORD was obvious to many including her children. Gordon Robertson, who recently took over lead anchor duties for the long-running CBN program “The 700 Club,” shared, “Mom was the glue that held the Robertson family together. She was always working behind the scenes. If it weren’t for Mom, there wouldn’t be a CBN,”

How she ever found time to write boggles the mind, but she penned two books during the 1980s, My God Will Supply and The New You.  Dede also authored a monthly column for Christian Life Magazine.

Dede is survived by four children— Timothy Robertson, Elizabeth Robinson, Gordon Robertson and Ann LeBlanc — 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The 700 Club has posted the following video tribute to Adelia "Dede" Robertson - wife, mother, great-grandmother and friend to many the world over.
Well done good and faithful servant!
