In Hebrew, batach carries the sense of lying face down or finding a refuge. It isn't just a mental "hope"; it’s the image of someone who is totally dependent on another for safety, like a child resting their full weight on a parent.

2. Lean (Sha’an – שָׁעַן)
The word for "lean" is sha’an. This is the same word used to describe a soldier leaning on a spear or a staff for support in the chaos of battle. The verse warns us: do not use our own limited logic as the primary staff that holds us up. If that staff breaks, you fall.
