How Does Christian Love Compare to Lust?

Society has created many problems for people trying to understand the difference between lust and love. The other day someone asked me about the difference between lust and love. To me it seems rather than being similar, they are actually polar opposites.

Love Versus Lust
In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, we find the definition of love, which is sometimes interpreted as lovingkindness or charity. To me, this definition paints a picture of how our Heavenly Father acts towards us. Love is self-sacrificing, whereas lust is based on acquisition - seeking to own and control others.
