How Do You Celebrate Passover ? - Holidays of God

Why Celebrate Passover?

Scriptures:
  • Not a word of this law shall pass away.- Matt 5:18
  • Passover came and Jesus went to Jerusalem. Luke 2:41; John 2:13
  • Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread Ex 12:1-11; Ex 23:15

What is Passover?

Passover or Pesach is a celebration of when God caused the angel of death to pass over the Israelites so that the firstborn son in each of their homes was spared. We find the full account of what happened in Exodus and then later, we find directions given that people should celebrate this day and keep it as a Holy Day.

In the Greek scriptures, we find Jesus going to celebrate Passover with His family as a young boy in Luke, and at the end of His earthly life in John.

Easter Traditions Have Sadly Replaced the Mandated Passover Celebration

Somehow, over the centuries, many Christians have fallen away from celebrating the amazing Passover rescue miracle. Have you been led down a bunny trail strewn with chocolate and tonnes of sugary eggs? I was one of those mothers who enthusiastically hid eggs for children to find, and I have to admit that some of the spring Sunday School activities were strewn with images of bunnies and eggs. When I learned where the traditions came from and the meaning of the word Easter, it was a real eye-opener for me! I was shocked to find out I'd been encouraging children to take part in spring fertility rites!

Passover Resources for Rediscovering The Appointed Times of God

If you too are waking up to how misled you have been, you are not alone. More and more Christians are looking in the Bible for themselves and realizing what is written in the scriptures.
Here are a few resources that you might find helpful in rediscovering Passover and other Holy Days of God.

The Holidays of God Spring Feasts- Discovery Series is a lovely free booklet that gives interesting insights into Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread and Pentecost. I was delighted to receive this free booklet and its companion  The Holidays of God- Fall Feasts from the publishers of The Daily Bread when I called and asked if they had any literature about the feasts of God. I found it to be a very enjoyable read.
