Shavuot - Pentecost 2021

Shavuot - Pentecost Time Alignment 2021

Yesterday I was led to see some very interesting posts, mostly about Shavu'ot. Did you know that Shavu'ot is the celebration of when God gave the Law to us? Even more interesting, if I have understood correctly, Shavu'ot will be celebrated this year on May 16th - the same day Christians around the world will be celebrating Pentecost - the day God fulfilled His promise of writing His law in our hearts through the Holy Spirit!
This year marks the 3,333rd celebration of Shavu'ot!

How is Shavuot Celebrated?

There are many traditions surrounding the celebration of Shavuot. Shavuot falls on the fiftieth day following Passover. Some of the traditions I read about include staying up all night to read scripture and eating lots of dairy foods.

How is Shavu'ot Connected to Pentecost?

The word Pentecost comes from the Greek word meaning fiftieth. It was on Shavu'ot, the fiftieth day of the Festival of Weeks, that the Holy Spirit fell on the disciples and they began to speak in various languages. We read about this miraculous event in Acts 2.
