Thoughts About The Great Lights Set by Our Creator in the Heavens
Today's recommended Messianic Shabbat reading includes:
- Genesis 1:1 - 6:8
- Isaiah 42:5- 43:11
- John 1:1 -14
- Colossians 1:15-17
- Hebrews 1:1-3
What is standing out to me at this moment from these readings is the creation of the sun, stars and planets as told in Genesis.
I guess this is in part due to the Solar eclipse being in the news today, and the daily reading on the free YouVersion Bible App being on this topic - Psalm 19:1.

Scripture:

What Does the Bible Say About the Sun?
The current theory being taught in schools about the creation of the sun partially lines up with what is written in the Bible. The Big Bang Theory is that the earth and planets got their start as an explosion.
In scripture, we find that Our Creator spoke the world and everything in creation into existence and they suddenly appeared.
If you have had the unpleasant experience of getting spittle on your face when someone spoke loudly next to you- you will realize that some words are explosive. So I do not find the Big Bang Theory totally at odds with the explanation of creation as found in Genesis.
What blew my socks off was when I read the Book of Enoch!
Here, centuries before anyone was able to explore the planetary systems, starting in section 71 the author of Enoch shares how he was taken into outer space by Our Creator and shown how the planets revolved around the Sun! What is absolutely amazing is this explanation of planetary movements lines up with the science of today.
It is the movement of the moon, earth and the Sun that causes Solar eclipses.
Some people who pay close attention to events that align with planetary movements are pointing out that this yearly Solar eclipse has great meaning for the United States as the full Solar Eclipse could be viewed from points throughout the USA.
How I Discovered the Book of Enoch
Growing up in the United Church, I had never heard of the Book of Enoch. Enoch is found in a group of books not included in the King James Version of the Bible, or any other Bible I had ever seen used in the United Church.
Enoch is however included in a section of ancient Hebrew writings called The Apocrypha in the Bible used by the Catholic Church.
On August 13, 2011, I had an amazing miraculous experience where I was healed from Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia that I had been battling for 13 years. I was born again.
I started experiencing what it was like to be guided by the Holy Spirit in absolutely amazing ways. One thing that started happening, was I would wake up each morning with a scripture in my heart. Now, I have volunteered with VBS and even taught Sunday School as a volunteer, so you would think I might be pretty familiar with the Bible, but I had a lot to learn.
One morning I woke with a scripture from Enoch in my heart. This was a puzzle to me. I couldn't find it in my Women's Study Bible, so I went online and searched for it. Wow! here was a whole new section of scriptures that I had never heard about!
If Enoch is new to you, or even if you might like to refresh your mind about what Enoch has to say about the movement of the planets, you might like to take a look at Section 71 of the Book of Enoch.
