Could Sky Water Solve Canadian Water Problems Too?
Trent University recently posted the following news on their Alumni Website:Anastasia Kaschenko '12 is the chief technical officer and co-founder of Majik Water, a start-up currently creating new sources of affordable, clean drinking water for communities in Kenya and South Africa. Making use of technology that harvests moisture from the air, the company is aiding individuals and communities, but they’re also partnering with some of the world’s largest business to lessen industrial water consumption in areas most affected by shortages.
Canada's Water Problems
According to Human Rights Watch, as of January 2016, there were drinking water advisories in 85 First Nations reservations in Canada. Many of these drinking water advisories for reserves have existed for decades. They are indicative of the broader systemic crisis that leaves many First Nations persons facing daily challenges just to access safe water for drinking and hygiene—a fundamental human right easily enjoyed by most Canadians.
Potential Solutions for Canada's Water Problems
The first step in fixing a problem is to realize there is one. Next, is making sure that people who can make a difference know about it. Many people in Canada donate money every day to help other countries fix their water problems. Isn't it time we did something about the water crisis that exists right here?
Yes, it is very important to help other countries, but as Christ said "Love your neighbour as yourself."
Let's get this fixed!
Please share this post with as many people as possible. Surely someone who can help will wake up and realize that they can be a part of the solution.
