The Scout: Tommy Prince -Book Review

Tales from Big Spirit Volume Six -The Scout: Tommy Prince - Review

Do you know about Tommy Prince? The Scout: Tommy Prince is an engaging graphic novel, that injects an odd bit of fiction into the true story of what Tommy Prince accomplished as a warrior.
 How so?

Here is a synopsis of The Scout: Tommy Prince by David A. Robertson posted on Abe Books:
A search down a wooded path for a well-hit baseball turns into an encounter between Pamela and a veteran soldier standing in front of a monument. The statue commemorates the heroism of Sgt. Tommy Prince, the most decorated Aboriginal soldier in Canada. Pamela is curious, and the veteran is happy to regale her with the story of the expert marksman and tracker, renowned for his daring and bravery in World War II and the Korean War.
So what is so strange about that bit of fiction?
Well, let's just say, there is a rather surprising plot twist at the end of the story that is reminiscent of the Twilight Zone.

This book is just one in the series of Tales from Big Spirit, a unique seven-book graphic novel series sharing stories of seven great Indigenous heroes from Canadian history. These books are designed to correspond with grades 4–6 Canadian social studies curriculum.

Tommy Prince Books

This full-colour graphic novel has excellent detailed illustrations and the format could be effectively used in a media studies unit or to help reluctant readers gain more of an appreciation of reading and the very important role of Tommy Prince in Canadian History.

I was pleased to find this volume available for purchase in the used book section of Abe Books, along with other books about Tommy Prince penned by several authors.
