Eschatology - What Does This Mean?

Pastor John Hagee Pens Tops Selling Eschatology Book!

Do you know Pastor John Hagee? Perhaps you've heard him on the radio or TV. Today I learned a new word from Pastor John Hagee's Twitter account -eschatology!
Pastor John Hagee had a banner on his Twitter account telling about his new revised edition of his book which has ranked number one on Amazon in a number of categories including Eschatology.
Hmmm... that's a new word for me.. eschatology. What on earth does eschatology mean?

Eschatology What is That?

Long story short, eschatology (es-ka-tall-O-jE) is the study of the philosophies and prophesies that deal with the end of the world. Christian eschatology is the study of the end of the world based on books of the Bible and utilizes both the Hebrew and Greek books.  A Twitter account sharing the original quotes of the German reformed theologian of hope, Juergen  Moltmann described it this way:.
How did I go from not having the foggiest clue about eschatology to getting a bit more educated? Here are a few notes from my research journey along with some links to more info on eschatology at the bottom of my ramblings.

My Eschatology Research Journey

Here's what I found out about eschatology online:

Bing Search Results: Eschatology

There are one million, nine hundred seventy-nine thousand results for eschatology. The top result is Wikipedia, followed by a list of commonly asked questions about eschatology such as:
  • What is the history of eschatology?
  • What does eschatology mean in Greek?
  • What is Christian eschatology?
Next, there is a very useful audio clip with the pronunciation of eschatology,(es-ka-tall-O-jE) along with information on the word origins.
Then we have Wikipedia again, followed by Encyclopedia Britannica, then Bing.com videos of eschatology curated from Youtube, Miriam-Webster,learnreligioins.com, christianity.com, Britannica.com, gotquestions.org, carm.org, Wikipedia,bible.org, and last but not least -usc.ca
Okay, so maybe there are not so many different sources for information on eschatology, after all, Wikipedia alone has several mentions on the first page of search results.
Oh,  yes, in the sidebar on the right there is a little tiny blurb: See results for Christian eschatology.
Which lead me down another rabbit hole.
