Away in a Manger - Beautiful Harp Rendition !

Away in a Manger - Lovely Lullaby Pays Homage to Our Saviour's Homeless Start in Life

This post includes a beautiful touching rendition of Away in a Manger by a young homeless harpist - what could be more appropriate for this piece of music?
Have you ever really listened carefully to the story of Our Saviour's birth? The song "Away in a Manger"  highlights the fact that the Saviour of this world was born into poverty.
His earthly parents had to make do with whatever shelter they could possibly get - a stable. This is the case for many people in Canada today. There simply isn't enough affordable housing.  Ironically, there are plenty of empty offices and stores, but due to zoning by-laws, people are not allowed to live in these spaces.
The young woman playing the harp in this piece is homeless. If you know someone in Ontario Canada who could use a live-in harpist to help soothe the soul as David did for Saul please leave a confidential note in the comments below, and I will do my best to connect you.

About Away in A Manger

The poem Away in a Manger has been sung to many different tunes. The earliest printed tune, shown below, was published in 1885 and sung to a tune called St. Kilda and was attributed to J. E. Clark. It was published in The Little Children's Book for Schools and Families

The words to Away in a Manger are as follows:

Away in a manger, with no room for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes!
I love the Lord Jesus look down from the sky,
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus I ask thee to stay,
And love me forever and guide me always!
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for Heaven to live with thee there!
